Reverend Andrea Rice and Reverend Nathan Rice, Pastors of St. Luke's Lutheran Church

The Reverend Andrea Rice and the Reverend Nathan Rice both received their Master of Divinity Degrees from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC in 2005. Pastor Andrea grew up in Atlanta and received her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Shorter College in 2000, while Pastor Nathan grew up in Greenville and received his Bachelor of Education in Music from Shorter College in 2001. The Pastors Rice began serving at St. Luke's in January, 2014. In addition to their service at St. Luke's, Pastor Andrea is a member of the South Carolina Synod Council, and Pastor Nathan is the chair of the South Carolina Lutheran Outreach Network as well as serving on the board of the LowCountry Home of Hope Homeless Shelter. Previous congregations before they came to St. Luke's include: St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington, SC; and the Nittany/Sugar Valley Lutheran Parish in Loganton, PA, comprised of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mill Hall, Salona Lutheran Church, in Salona, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Loganton, and St. John's Lutheran Church, Booneville.


Lee Kohlenberg, Interim Director of Music Ministries


Lee Kohlenberg retired in June, 2008, after 40 years in full-time church music, serving for 18 years at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Charleston, as well as St. Stephen’s Episcopal, Sewickley, PA, and The Cathedral of St. James, Chicago, IL.  He holds a BMus in Organ Performance from the Univ. of Texas and a Master of Sacred Music from Union Theological Seminary, NYC.  He has served as Dean of American Guild of Organists chapters in Charleston, Chicago, and Pittsburgh and coordinated the L’Organo Series for Piccolo Spoleto for a number of years.  He has played recitals in and around Charleston as well as in Atlanta (St. Philip’s), Washington, DC (National Cathedral), New York City (St. Thomas, St. Bartholomew's, St. James, and St. John the Divine), Chicago (Fourth Presbyterian and St. James Cathedral), Pittsburgh, Kansas City, and Austin, Texas.  In addition to substitute work in the area, he has served several Charleston churches as interim, including Redeemer Lutheran, Christ our King (Catholic), and St. Mark’s Episcopal, Charleston, Christ Church (Episcopal) in Charlotte and First Presbyterian Church in Tyler, Texas.

Karen Schultz, Lay Ministries Coordinator


Karen is a life-long Lutheran, who graduated from Newberry College with a BA in Sociology and minor in Spanish. She has been employed as an Employment Counselor for the state of South Carolina, Executive Director of Faith Lutheran (parochial) School in Las Vegas, NV, Collections Manager for Time-Warner Corporation in Las Vegas, NV and several part time service oriented jobs while raising a family. Karen has taught children and adult Sunday School, facilitated Turner Ministries/Angel Wings, (a perinatal outreach ministry of St. Luke's), and served on St. Luke's church council.


Kathy Harmon, Parish Administrator

Kathy is a Kentucky native and is currently finishing her bachelor's degree with Grand Canyon University in Business Management. She has served in churches in Kentucky, Louisiana, Alabama, and South Carolina in church administration. She is married to Scott Harmon and has 2 grown daughters and 4 grandchildren. Kathy joined the staff at St. Luke's in February 2017. 


Kim Alexander, Financial Secretary


Kim hails from Florence, South Carolina. She joined the staff at St. Luke's in August 2017. Kim has a grown son and daughter and 2 grandchildren.
